Our Bariatric toilet range provides relief for individuals who are bigger or taller than average. For the larger user one of the most common issues encountered when using WC facilities is one of space, or rather the lack of it particularly when it comes to toileting. Firstly, the room layout should provide more space and better access. But as importantly the WC should be more substantial both in terms of construction and height.
All toilets in our Bariatric range meet this requirement. They are substantially tougher in construction and meet the requirements of BS8300.5.3.4 in that ‘the top surface of a WC seat’ (neither the cover nor sanitary ware) should be set at a height of 480mm above the finished floor level.
It is important the construction of a Bariatric toilet should be sustainably greater than that of a standard toilet. Surprisingly there is no UK Government directive or guidelines that specify a minimum or maximum weight limit for floor mounted toilets, other than that given for wall mounted toilets which are not relevant here. Being realistic the only restriction we can see is that of the seat, and its ability to accept the weight of larger users.
But rest assured our Bariatric toilets can withstand the largest of users.
There are many things to consider when choosing a Bariatric toilet. For example, when and where the toilet will be used? This is an important consideration as well as the type of person (s) using the facility. Is the facility for domestic or health care use and are aesthetics important? Once you understand these points you can start to narrow the search.
Once installed ceramic Bariatric WC’s are efficiently built for regular heavy-duty use. They can withstand larger build weights and are noticeably more sturdy than standard WC ranges. Mobility Essentials offer close coupled Bariatric WC’s (cistern sits upon WC pan) whereby in certain cases the cistern can offer some support for the user.
Our Bariatric toilets have been built with just one thing in mind, strength of construction. They are designed to bring comfort, dignity, and piece of mind to larger builds.
Bariatric Toilets can provide appropriate levels of assistance for larger builds, less abled or indeed anyone affected suffering from restricted movement or limited dexterity where a toilet of this type offers the user more substance than a standard toilet. They can also be used by wheelchair users who may require assistance when using the WC and ensuring the flush is operated and WC contents are discharged. The delivery method of water into WC bowl ensures hygiene levels are high and the toilets simple aesthetics mean it can be easily cleaned and maintained.
